I apologize for my lack of posts over the past week…I have finally recuperated from both the MTO and family camp. Today was my first day back to work and once again I am reminded of why I do what I do. First of all, I work on an amazing team…where else in Canada would you get the chance to work alongside 13 other incredibly gifted individuals who are all passionate about youth ministry?
It is also such an incredible blessing to be on the staff of Centre Street – today we were talking about the 50 anniversary of the church. God has blessed in so many ways! Think about this – 12 years ago there was 8 people on staff….today 125! Not that numbers are the only example of God’s blessing but it is so cool to see how CSC has evolved over the past 10 years – and I am so looking forward to see how God is going to continue to ove us into the future!!
Okay – so what about some of the highlights from MTO Vancouver? *Disclaimer*Keep in mind this is only my perspective – other individuals may see things completely different.*
Looking back at our time in Vancouver the one thing that keeps coming to mind was the spirit of Christ-like servanthood. Everything (and I mean everything) the students were asked to do – they did it with humility. I never once heard any of them complain or grumble about picking up garbage at Oppenheimer, making sandwiches at Fransiscan Sisters, preparing meals and cleaning the bathrooms at our headquarters. It’s hard for me to even begin to explain how it feels to see grade 8 students (and leaders) being the hands and feet of Jesus.
I am almost finished the de-briefing sheet! I’ll try to get that out to you on Wednesday/Thursday. Have a great week!
Don’t forget this Sunday, July 20th there is a family bbq (weather permitting) at the main campus( South doors) following the 11am service…$2.00 for a burger/chips/drink…we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!!
