It’s hard to believe it’s already been two and a half weeks since Brett visited us. What an incredible weekend it was! As many have said it was a huge eye-opener for many. More importantly through his very timely presentation he uncovered many of the lies we have bought into as parents and as a church.
Instead of giving you my perspective on what he had to say I thought it would be far more appropriate to share what other parents had to say;
“It was great to have the opportunity to attend this informative yet disturbing presentation. It was an eye opener for all parents as to how the media culture of today has such a powerful influence on our children.
We need to be educated on the issues that our children are facing today more than ever. One in 4 teens has come in contact with a sexually transmitted infection. One in 5 teens injures themselves in order to cope with life. Cutting is a growing epidemic. Eating disorders, substance abuse, and sexual promiscuity affect our children as early as grade 4.
With today’s constant use of the internet, instant messaging, text messaging, movies with violent and sexual content, explicit music, gaming, inappropriate TV viewing, and advertising, it is frightening to think about the messages they are receiving all day, every day.
Our children need good relationships and open communication with their parents in order to get the guidance and direction they need. Without this direction, how can they be expected to be able to filter it all and develop their own discretion when faced with all these choices?
It is time to get involved. Learn about your kids and the culture they are growing up in. Invest in your relationships with them and keep communication open.
We need to teach our kids how to live in this culture and make good choices within it.”

“Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the Bret Ullman night. Thanks so much for bringing him in. It was an eye opener that is for sure”!

This man is well informed on the culture and sub cultures our kids are being influenced by. The greatest need I see is for parents to be informed. Pastor Henry has spoken to us parents on the need to focus our lives on what is really valuable. If we don’t know what our children are doing in and after school and during their “leisure hours” we stand at great risk. Kids need their parents. I know firsthand as I am in a couple of major battles as I write. We must be engaged in the warfare. It is our highest responsibility as parents.
We are not alone in the fight and we need each other as parents with the body of Christ. This is where this well informed Christian leader comes in. He understands the undercurrents of our culture and the short and long term consequences of its evil influence. Mature leaders and parents must be informed and in a spirit of love and respect by the Spirit’s power confront where needed.
The ministry of reconciliation comes to mind. Bring Brett back not for the kids so much as for parents and leaders. We need to be continually reminded. Let us not be ignorant of the enemies devises. Bless you
