Over the past few years I have had the honour and privilege of sitting down with a wide variety of individuals. Kids, pre-teens, teens, want to be teens, want to be adults, semi-adults, true adults, little kids trapped in adult bodies (the list could go on and on)
The conversations always lead to what’s most important and significant in our lives. What is the most significant component of our lives? it’s not work, pursuits, sports, travel or weather. It all boils down to one word…the one thing we were all created for – RELATIONSHIP.
What amazes me within those conversations …is that even though we consciously or verbally would agree to the fact that relationships are foundational – we tend to find a great deal of fault in those we say we care about the most.
I am the first one to point the finger at when it comes to pointing out others imperfections. There are things that if I let it – drive me insane about my wife and kids. Are they major character flaws?? Absolutely not!! They are little mannerisms or ways of doing things that I allow to get under my skin.
How do you respond to the imperfections of those you are in relationship with? How do you deal with your own imperfections? Do you embrace them and celebrate your uniqueness? Or do you try to hide them from those you love most? Something to think about today….
