Think about this…
When people enter your sphere of influence how do you perceive them?
In my line of work (church ministry) it is often very easy (due to our training and environment) to see our parishioners as a means to an end. What does this person have to offer us? How can I tap into their skills, abilities and resources to fulfill our organizations goals?
We often lose sight of the fact that people first and foremost are an asset – not because of what resources they have to offer – but because of their life stories and the significance of their life experiences.
Chick-fil-A (which I wish would make it’s way North of the border) has done a masterful job of shining the light on this way of thinking. Watch and enjoy – how does knowing the stories of people help you to perceive people in a different light?
