It’s time for a serious discussion on the broken model of youth ministry we are still truing to convince ourselves is working in out post-Christian context.
I know its a lot easier to simply default to what we know – whats comfortable – what appears to be successful when our scorecard is out whack. But seriously?? If the heart of youth ministry is discipleship we have failed miserably – haven’t we??
In North America at least we appear to be stuck in the cyclical circle of youth ministry insanity. We are continuing to do the same things – over and over – and over and over – expecting a different result. Many would agree that we need to make significant changes then why is it that the majority are continuing to feed the beast?
I’m certainly not saying I have all the answers – but what I am saying is that we need to revisit this whole sub-culture of youth ministry. Where have we missed the mark? What is the mark? Are we too far gone? What are you seeing in your context?
